The Future of Music Coalition is running an online survey to gauge the level of health insurance among working musicians. Musicians, songwriters and composers are encouraged to take the survey, which FMC expects to take about ten minutes.

Sunday's Chicago Tribune ran a thoughtful and provocative op-ed on musicians and health insurance penned by Nan Warshaw of Chicago's Bloodshot Records and Alex Maiolo, project coordinator for the Future of Music Coalition's Health Insurance Navigation Tool (HINT).
The Future of Music Coalition blog notes:
the article is interesting because instead of a “pity the poor musicians” angle, it portrays artists as what they actually are: entrepreneurs who are trying to compete in an open marketplace, like Americans are encouraged to do. Yet because to the current health insurance landscape, it is exceedingly difficult for most musicians to pursue their craft.
